Dr. Maurice Antonio Lee, the first black male pharmacist and native of Eutawville, South Carolina, was born August 4, 1976. He received his Baccalaureate of Science in Biology from South Carolina State University. He furthered his education at the Medical University of South Carolina and received a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. He is presently employed by Walgreens Pharmacy of Orangeburg, South Carolina as the Pharmacy Manager.
Dr. Lee has become quite a cognoscente in the health profession. He has spoken to our communities, schools and churches to enlighten them about healthcare and other subjects that concern the health benefits of people. Dr. Lee endured financial challenges that made his tenure in college quite rigorous. The struggles were difficult and the financial hardships proved to be quite overwhelming during the times of preparation. But with faith and determination, he worked and survived the dubiety of his mind. Dr. Lee decided to give back to society by dedicating his 30th Birthday Celebration with the establishment of a scholarship fund that would give assistance to students with substantial financial challenges. His expectation is that the recipients would be encouraged to persevere on the journey to excellence in the midst of financial adversities. Dr. Lee has an overwhelming desire to help others and he embraces educational growth, thus serving as an example for those students with goals that may seem unrealistic because of financial challenges due to uncontrollable circumstances.
In 2008 Dr. Lee was honored by The Orangeburg Chapter of Links Incorporated with the Services to Youth Award for outstanding services provided to the youth throughout the community. He also received national recognition for his unselfish efforts with a nomination for Essence Magazines annual celebration of “Do Right Men” where he was featured in the August 2008 issue.
